Have no idea what the temp of the water is so I cant say. Turtles lay their eggs on land usually by digging a hole in dirt or sand and then covering the nest.

If the weather is wet and humid or they can find a moist shaded pile of leaves then they can potentially survive outside of water for weeks to months.

Have no idea what the temp of the water is so I cant say. If you have the means to take care of him for another 4-5 months Id keep him until spring. Just be sure hes getting adequate space good filtration and a varied diet.
